How to Find and Shop Makeup Dupes
My Current Favorite Makeup Dupes
Whether you’re simply seeking to save extra cash, on a budget, or all of the above, finding makeup dupes is financially a good idea and gives you that bargain hunt satisfaction.
Here are some ways to find makeup dupes:
Before committing to the real thing, swatch it out.
Sometimes, you can find dupes between $3-8 compared to regular priced, well-known brands at $15-$50+ for the same color and type of product.
Bring a photo of the product or swatch, so you can compare it when sampling similar colors.
If you have an almost empty case or tube, swatching the back of your hand or on your forearm can help to compare multiple swatches at once. This way you can find which color is the closest dupe for you.
Consider the finish and benefits.
Are the dupes just as moisturizing? Is it long-lasting or does it crack? If it’s important to you, is the dupe also cruelty free, vegan, organic, etc? Does this dupe’s brand offer a wide variety of colors? For some products, I still prefer the original for its finish and moisture. Sometimes, it may makes sense to go with the economical option. If you know you’re going to replace a product more frequently, or you're seeking to save some money without sacrificing quality, purchasing dupes means you'll save money AND look great. :) It's a win-win!
