Austin Nerd Cave 2018

Hello, nerdy babes!

Nerd Cave is an annual event, where local geeks come together to put on a fun event for Austin nerds into similar fandoms and their own crafts respectively. There will be live music, costumes, and beer. Austin Nerd Cave Showcase and Half-O-Ween will also be selling two previous coloring books, as well as hosting a silent auction or raffle to benefit the Austin School of Film and Central TX Food Bank.Who wouldn’t want to have fun with meeting the artists and learning a bit of makeup? If you’re looking for weekend plans, you’re going to want to check this out. (If you have any questions, or prefer to volunteer, contact Jennifer Cunningham, Artist/Organizer at Nerd Cave ATX, via email: jen@jenheartsart.com.)

There will be SFX makeup artist students from ASoF, who will be demoing wounds, zombie looks, and other Halloween styles on attendees. The students will also share tips on how to recreate this SFX makeup and where you can sign up to learn how to do this kind of artistry, too. I’m curious about the makeup, since I always see YouTube videos. It’s amazing to see how much work goes into each horror SFX look. Would you want to try out a zombie look? I know I’m into it!

With original work and fan art, as well as on-site arcade games, you have plenty of opportunities to wear your favorite costume buy cool art, and play games with new and old friends alike. If you’re dressing up, what will you wear? I embrace my geeky side, and if you’re into things like Harry Potter, Marvel/DC comics, Stranger Things, Game of Thrones, etc, then bring your friends and family.
